What about Gun Control?

If you’re like me, you’ve been wondering, what happened to that drumbeat of voices calling for gun control? It was there every time you turned on the television; some celebrity or politician couldn’t wait to get in front of the camera and trash the second amendment. This lasted for about 10 days after the tragic Vegas shooting.

I found an answer as to why all the anti-second amendment condemnations have disappeared. In an article by Awr Hawkins from Breitbart News, he states that:

“The gun control push that marked the first 10 days following the October 1 Las Vegas attack has now floundered and all but disappeared, in large part because the shooting did not impact American attitudes toward guns.”

There was a poll conducted by Politico in which 47% of voter’s support gun rights while, 42% support gun control. The poll also showed that “63 percent of Democrat voters supported limiting gun ownership, while only 25 percent believed protecting gun rights is more important. Republicans were just the opposite with 70 percent [saying] it’s more important to protect gun rights, compared with 23 percent who say limiting gun ownership is more important.”

With an election looming in 2018, in which many Democrats are up for re-election in red states, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) thought it wise if his colleagues put the brakes on a gun control push for now.
