Israel, The Perfect Example of The Need for The Second Amendment
My whole life whenever the Holocaust was mentioned, the phrase “we must never forget” or “we can never allow this to happen again” usually followed. Yet I find it ironic that the very people who should never want this to happen again is, Israel itself. Yet they failed to learn from their own past.
Israel was founded in 1948 on the heels of WW2 by many survivors of the persecution of Jews throughout Europe by the Nazi’s. As I watched what happened with the Hamas attack, what I saw were scared people, cowering in their homes, and trying to hide anywhere they could. I kept asking myself, doesn’t anyone have a gun?
I became curious as to what the gun laws are in Israel. This is from The Times of Israel:
“Gun control in Israel is relatively strict, and firearm licenses are generally only granted to those who can show a need for extra security in their line of work or daily life. Meaning, one of the key criteria for a private citizen to receive permission to own a gun is where they live or what they do.”
I was astounded to hear Israel, who is surrounded by nations and terrorists that hate them and shout “death to Israel, death to all Jews,” would have extremely strict gun control. I am a realist and understand that evil exists. I think that when a male gets circumcised on the eighth day in Israel, he should get a gun as a gift. I am jesting here, but seriously, having restrictive gun control laws is ridiculous in their situation.
Here is some key history that Israel seemed to forget. The Night of the Broken Glass (Kristallnacht) - the infamous Nazi rampage against Germany’s Jews - took place in November 1938. It was preceded by the confiscation of firearms from the Jewish people. The entire Jewish population of Berlin had been ‘disarmed’ with the confiscation of 2,569 hand weapons, 1,702 firearms, and 20,000 rounds of ammunition.
On Nov 9th , Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels planned the attack. Orders went out to Nazi security forces: “All Jewish stores are to be destroyed immediately. Jewish synagogues are to burn. The Jews are to be disarmed. In the event of resistance, they are to be shot immediately.” On November 10th , it happened. The Nazi’s smashed, looted, and burned Jewish shops and temples and thousands of Jews were taken away.
When Hamas stormed southern Israel, they didn’t have to pass gun laws or send the police to confiscate weapons beforehand, the people were already disarmed by their own government.
So, that mantra “never again” was forgotten by the people themselves.
Eighty-five years later, Hamas burns, loots, rapes and murders thousands of Jews and they were unable to defend themselves. They were helpless sheep just like in Germany 85 years ago. They didn’t remember and learn from their past. As a result, another slaughter happened.
We as Americans should learn from this.
This incident should teach all of us how valuable the second amendment is. As I mentioned in my previous post, roaming gangs of terrorists killing at random could happen here. The politicians that want to disarm us are ravenous wolves. They don’t care about human life. That is why so many of the same politicians are zealots for abortion even up to birth.
We must never comply with registration or confiscation because we know what happens next. Always be very wary of any politician that says he cares about “the children,” so give up your guns.
Ask the children who were massacred in Israel how that worked out.
